Disappointed, But Not Surprised.

That's how I feel about the stimulus package being voted upon today by members of Congress. The RUSH to spend $825 billion dollars of taxpayer dollars is turning out to be a sloppy one. I get that you can't please all the people all the time. I get that time is of the essence and that it's likely we won't hit the exact bullseye on spending. But what I *don't* get is that only $30 billion of the ... read more

Gold Glittering: Told ya so...

A couple of days ago I noticed gold behaving brightly. It was holding above certain levels *$850 an ounce specifically...) so I thought you guys might need to hear from Frank Holmes of U.S. Global Investors. He's one of the smartest people out there if you're talking about gold so, even though we were jam-packed with post-Inaugural craziness, we got in him in front of the Fox Business cameras to ... read more

Flynt and the 'Flaccid' Economy: "Porn Needs TARP too!"

Okay, so it's all tongue in cheek, but Adult Entertainment tycoon Larry Flynt is trying to make a point with his request for $5 billion dollars in TARP funds for his 'limp' industry.  Using the slowdown in porn DVD sales and rentals as a springboard, Flynt and his co-hort, "Girls Gone Wild" founder Joe Francis, have written a letter to Rep. Barney Frank and Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson asking ... read more

Dan's point is that we need a healthy banking system and no matter what the cost, there is no ... read more

The Chinese Are Coming

BYD (which stands for "Build Your Dreams") caught my eye awhile back ... read more

Detroit Lives! For now....

Hi gang, It's Sunday night and the Fox Business crew including Jeff Flock and me just finished up our live special from the Detroit Auto Show.  Today is the first of three media days for the show, which, by the way, started waaaay bck in 1907 in a Detroit BEER GARDEN. (hello?) How far they've come.  Today it's 1 million square feet of show space at the Cobo Center in the heart of ... read more

The Smartest Guy in the Room

Hi gang, I've been covering financial news for nearly eleven years so sure, I have my favorites. But David Swensen, Chief Investment Officer of Yale University is easily right there at the top.   Folks, his record is STUNNING and he's widely recognized as one of the best investors of our time.  His 10 year return average for the Yale Endowment Fund? 16.3%. He's invested through boom ... read more
