Symantec Chairman to FBN: "Obama Should Make R&D Tax Credit Permanent"

John Thompson is one of the most highly respected business leaders in Silicon Valley. In a Fox Business Exclusive, chairman of Symantec, a leader in anti-virus software, left the business group meeting with the President on climate change and came straight to our cameras to talk about what happened in that meeting.

As the President gears up for the big climate change summit in Copenhagen, he met with everyone from the heads of Shell and Duke Energy to the president of the Sierra Club and with guys like John Thompson who are big thinkers but also big biz guys who don’t want compliance costs to hamper innovation.

Thompson told us today on “Countdown to the Closing Bell” that President Obama listened as he and other chairmen and CEO’s suggested ways to turn climate change enforcement into jobs.  Among Thompson’s ideas: make research and development tax credits permanent to spark innovation.

I have always loved talking to Thompson about business: he’s a no-nonsense successful guy who grew a company by being creative and smart.  You should listen to him too, in the clip below.
